
Anastasia Chacón Consultant
Anastasia Chacón is a skilled editor and writer, bringing more than five years of experience in digital content creation. She is an expert in Latin American and Caribbean affairs, with a focus on the intersection between public policy, macroeconomics, and business.
Prior to joining Conscient Strategies, Anastasia worked as an editor and reporter at a DC-based think tank specializing in U.S.-Latin America relations, where she wrote and published a daily newsletter on breaking news in the region and two sister publications covering the energy and financial services sectors. Anastasia has also provided political risk analysis for a multinational consulting firm in Mexico, and she has worked as a consultant for a non-governmental organization addressing democracy, political freedom, and human rights. Previously, she interned at various news media organizations, including Reuters and El Financiero, as well as at the Costa Rica Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE) as a research assistant.
During her MA in Latin American Studies at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, Anastasia conducted qualitative field research as part of her final capstone project, which examined the power dynamics among the main stakeholders at a silver mine in Guatemala through a gender lens. Based on her research, Anastasia provided recommendations to an international NGO on how to best engage with each actor to address social conflict surrounding the mining project and ensure corporate social responsibility commitments are implemented on the ground.
Anastasia also holds a BA in Government, with a concentration in Economics and Women’s & Gender Studies, from Georgetown University. Born and raised in Costa Rica, she is fluent in Spanish and proficient in French and Portuguese. Anastasia now lives in Washington DC.
